I am officially going back to college to get my masters in administration to be a principal. I found a school online to go to that won't take me long so I am going to do the online thing. I officially started on Jan. 8th. I am doing ok so far. The only thing I don't like about the whole thing is that it feels disjointed, like you don't really get to know the people you are going to class with. Well, anyway I am in and there's no turning back now. I have been contemplating this decision for quite some time now and I am sticking with it now. Wish me good luck!

School's in...AGAIN!

Well, it has been quite some time since I made my last post. I am still teaching preschool. I really enjoy it too. I know that I will have some challenges this year. My boss has noticed this "talent" that I have. I know more than the average bear about computers and software. But really...who doesn't these days. Well, I found out that some of the people that I work with don't. They don't even know how to close a window! Needless to say, I was shocked to hear this. I am going to teach a class for them to help them get aquainted with the computer. This should be fun...

Well, so what else is happening? Well, as you know in the past, I tried out for american idol. I didnt' make it and it was very heart breaking. I had to realize that it wasn't me...it was the type they were looking for. And as you can see, the people who made it to the final 12 were nothing like me. So, here we are again. Next season tryouts AND they are coming to my city...what to do...

I haven't made my final decision but I will let you know...I am really going back and forth on this one. I don't want to waste my time. On the other hand...what if?? Well, I guess you won't know until you try. So I will keep you updated! Until then...

Ahhh the joy of summer school!

Well, I started working summer school last week june 8th. And I know you are wondering why I am teaching on my time off. Well, there is this thing called the evil credit card and it is haunting me. I am only working for four weeks to try to pay off the credit card ASAP. I am sick of see it and this was a quick way to earn cash and I get paid pretty good to do it.

But as for the kids I am teaching, well they are great. I have really enjoyed our first week . They are really smart kids and hopefully all of them will be mainstreamed one day. This is the ultimate goal.

Anyways! I am so ashamed. But honestly this semester has been such a doozy.

Well, I am almost finished with the year. I have had a pretty good class this year. I have enjoyed working with the little kids again.

I am packing up my room(which we do every year) so they can clean our floors over the summer. I have two great assistants that have been working very hard this year and they are helping to pack up.

Although I will miss the little rugrats I am glad to have a little break! At least until I start working again for summer school. Luckily we only have summer school for four weeks so it won't be that difficult.

Well, I guess that is about it.

Oh one more thing. If you leave a message or email me remember I can't email you back because it doesn't send your email addressed attatched to the email you sent. Yeah. Well, on top of spending two hours at Kinkos last night I have done nothing but work! I haven't even had time to stop during the day to go the restroom! I have been going through observations from my principal(s)-three to be exact. With that comes lesson plans of course, but not just any lesson plans. Oh no. It has to be written on THEIR papers. So more paper work for me-yeah! Then I had to come up with a unit plan and then another informative assessment sheet....ahhhhhhh! Needless to say I am a little stressed.

Then, a week ago we heard that we were going to have to be completed with all our IEP meetings by March 10th. OK. for those of you who don't know, I have to schedule these meetings and you have to give at least a 10 day notice. Then you have to work around the principals schedule and the other teachers that are there...all in all, we will have 150 meetings with parents...and there isn't enough time in the day to finish them all when you consider other peoples schedules! It's crazy I know! I am ready to say the heck with it and walk out! But I can't and I know that....maybe March 10th will come and be gone and I won't have to agonize over all this stuff anymore!

OK. I must say that I have no idea about all this "tagged" stuff but I do know how to list my pet peeves! I do have a few...lol.

1. I can't stand it when I have to hear people eating chips! Close your mouth people!
2. I too can't stand it when people get in the "10 or less" line at stores. It makes me so mad because I am usually the one with less than 10 items and I have to wait that much longer! Ugh!
3. I will have to say that I am a little OCD (obsessive compulsive disorder for those who don't know the acronym) So this one may be a little weird for some...I can't stand pictures or furniture that are not symmetrical with the wall. Meaning if it's not even, it makes me want to go and change it for them!!
4.I don't like to shake hands with people with sweaty hands.
5. I hate it when people call and don't leave a message, then call right back immediately to see if you are going to answer. People, if I didn't want to talk to you the first time you called, I sure don't want to talk to you the second time! Get a clue!
6. I can't stand to drive behind someone who is going below the speed limit. They act as if everyone has all the time in the world to putter around to get where they are going!

That is it. Unfortunately I don't know of anyone else who has a blog to tag. So I guess the tag stopped here! :)

OK. Well since school has started I have been running around like crazy trying to get all my papers ready for my observations to be done by Feb. 15th. On top of all that I have IEP's coming up (individualized educational plan) for my whole class and before those meetings can happen I have to test all my kids. OMG! Can we say last minute??!! I am really getting stressed out here and I feel like I am turning into a witch! I can just feel the tension building up and I have literally had to stop myself from saying some things to people that I would not normally say anything to. Wow...Do I need a break or what?!!?!

Back to Work!

Well, the official full week of work is on its way. I got back to work actually last week on Wednesday only to get a call from my big boss that I had an emergency meeting and that my presence was needed. Luckily I was only about 2 minutes from the place they were meeting. I didn't however walk into a lovely meeting. I went along with our Speech Pathologist to the meeting and we were totally disrespected. I didn't feel as though they even cared we were there!

But anyway, the little boy was cute but has some physical handicaps and he is really in a limbo stage as far as school goes. He will be coming to my class from now on until further testing is done. We don't know for sure everything that is going on with him right now but he is a really pleasant little boy and not a behavior problem at all. Which to be quite honest with you, is kind of nice! I think he is going to do well in my class. Hopefully I can get him to communicate more by the time meeting come up in March.

christmas time...

Well, the holidays are coming to an end and I must say I have really enjoyed this Christmas. I got to sleep in most of the days and I didn't stress out about the shopping because we got most of it done early. It was nice to relax. The day after Christmas we loaded up the car and headed down to Alabama to see my family. I love my family but I could only take a few days with them and it was time to come back to home in TN. My parents have made their minds up that they are going to move back to AL very soon. Nathan, Josh, and I and both my parents went house shopping with them while we were there. That was fun. They are looking for some property in Shelby county, just don't know where yet. I called my mom today and she said my dad is having a hard time choosing where he wants to live because he wants more land than what they are building houses on. He's a country boy at heart! Grew up on an 80 acre farm and he is not use to house being on less than an acre! Oh well! that's they going trend. No one has time to keep up with a yard that big anymore!

Out with the old and in with the new!

I have spent the last couple of days cleaning out! Josh wants to keep everything. He is such a pack rat! I know that he just wants to hang on to it because he's afraid that he won't have anymore toys, but come on! I have been so busy with Christmas that I haven't even had time to check my emails! blah blah blah...So on with the story...
Kids say the funniest things you know. And sometimes it's only funny at that particular time. So here is my kid story. :) Nathan has a little boy named Josh, which is the apple of my eye by the way. Josh has it in his head that depending on if people have lights on their house or not is whether people have the "Christmas spirit." So the other day we were coming down the road and it was night time so everyone has on their Christmas lights. We were driving around admiring all the lights and about that time, Nathan says "Josh! Look at all the lights on that house!" and Josh responds "Ohhhh boy do they have the Christmas spirit!" This house had the whole street lit up and there wasn't a street light around! And so Nathan being the parent that he is responded back and says, "yeah and they will have the light bill to go with it too!" Josh says, "Yep but we won't cause we don't have that many lights!" So as you can tell he doesn't think that his house is decorated "enough."

Birthday Party! I thought, OK...uhh no. You can't do that. The 24hour rule is into effect. And, besides all of that, she was really sick yesterday. She doesn't need to come back to school...that would be insane! This didn't start my day out in a good way. And then to top it all off, my contacts started to KILL me and I had an awful head ache. It finally went away about 7:30 tonight...and boy am I glad!

Bad Bad Morning...

Well, it was unlike any other Thursday in my little class. I got to school and one of my kids was very sick. She had had a fever all night and her mom said she was ok when she was at home this morning. Well, for those of you who don't know about the 24hour rule, here it is. If your child has been sick with a fever DON'T send your child to school until they have been clear of it for 24hours. This is to protect not only those who work with your child, but your child too. Plus, kids are strange creatures in the fact that they can be perfectly fine one minute and terribly sick the next. The immune system is at its lowest point when someone has a fever and if some other child shows up to school sick (like they sometimes do) your child could catch what they have too! It's just a big mess and you don't want to be a part of it. TRUST ME! If you are looking at the pics of my class, it was the little girl to the far right....she's my most fragile that I have in my class right now. She has limited communication, so all she could do is scream and hold her head. I was concerned needless to say. It was only a little while back when she had a seizure at school. That was the scariest day of my life. I was in tears watching the paramedics work on her. She went home today soon after she arrived. Her stepdad came and picked her up. I hope she feels better soon.

<img border='0' style='border:1px solid #000000; I have six kids this year so far, and I do mean so far. Our system here in Memphis is on of the largest in the state of Tennessee and so we have kids coming out of the wood works literally. So the influx of kids coming in and leaving is a great deal. I know what you are thinking....six kids! That's easy! Well, for those of you who think it's "easy" come please do and sit in with my children for one day. I know it will change your mind.

Today was a normal day only two of my kids were out, so, what does that leave us with class? FOUR, right! But guess what, do you think my day was any easier with a smaller number of kids? NO! Right again! They are definitely a handful, but I really do love doing my job. I have 4 girls and 2boys. One of them has a one-on-one assistant and then I have another assistant who works with me too. I am truly blessed to have them by the way. I sometimes chuckle inside because to see us coming down the hall at lunch time must be so funny! Three adults and six kids...and we are working our tails off just to get them there! They are all over the place plus whoever thought Deaf kids are quiet, boy were you wrong! I am constantly having to tell them SHHHHH! and put my finger over my mouth. And to just keep them together without one of them running off is a challenge too! But slowly but surely they are getting it. It's only December, right? And we have only been in school for THREE months! For those of you who don't know me, that was a bit of sarcasm. lol Boy wer are a sight to see! I promise pictures will be posted soon! Until then...

Birthdays!

As I said in my previous post, one of my students had her birthday yesterday and today was one of my assistants, Kim's B'day. They were very happy. My other assistant Mary made a cake too! We are not very good communicators and so we both brought cakes to make sure the other didn't forget. Her cake was a big hit and mine was, well not as "homemade" so the kids didn't even look at it! And it was a oreo cake! Well, I enjoyed it and so did some of the other teachers at school. This week we are doing some little activities about Halloween and Fall. We are reading a book about 5 little Bats. It is such a cute little book. We made the five little bats and we hung them outside in our hall. The kids really like for the other children to see their work and so do I:) We are also going to have our halloween/fall party on Friday. It will be loads of fun...

Trying out for American Idol...

Yes. I tried out for American Idol in North Carolina earlier this month. I am just now getting a chance to write about it though. I know that many people are wondering about what exactly happens at these tryouts. Well, I can tell you one thing, American Idol is a BIG JOKE! There were so many people there that could really sing and they didn't make it. I don't understand what the criteria for letting people go on to the next round, but I can tell you it's not what you think. You have to be maybe a freak or gay or dressed up in something to get their attention. Regardless, it's not a tryout for talent. It's something else...

First Blog!

Well, here it is. I am new to this whole new thingy called "blogging." I will try my best to keep it up. Hopefully I will do a good job! :)

Well, my week was going pretty good until yesterday (Thursday). It was about 2:30 and we (my assistants and I) were waking the children up from their naps. I went to wake one of the children to find that she was having a seizure! I really freaked out on the inside but on the outside I was as cool as a cucumber. This particular child has a history of seizures and this was the first one she has had at school. It lasted for about twenty minutes. The ambulance got there and they transported her to the hospital. It was the first time I have ever ridden in an ambulance before, and it wasn't even for me! I stayed at the hospital for a while until she fell asleep and her mother arrived. She is doing fine now. I think that she will be o.k. considering her last episode left her paralyzed on one side of her body. I am thankful that it did not happen this time. You know it's funny what you become thankful for in a time of crisis... :)
